About meI am a faculty member in the Department of Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development and the Innovation Studies/Master of Liberal Studies graduate programs at the University of Minnesota. I am the principal of Education Futures LLC; a co-founder of the Horizon Forum, a roundtable on the future of education at all levels; and am the editor of Education Futures (ISSN 1940-0934, http://www.educationfutures.com). Technological change drives social change, and its impact is accelerating exponentially. I am concerned about human capital development as society approaches an increasingly complex and ambiguous future. Our schools, universities, and other institutions must leapfrog ahead of this curve for all people to compete in highly globalized, knowledge- and innovation-based societies. My work focuses on exploring this “New Paradigm” and the new approaches to leadership and human capital development required. My approach is global in scope, and I actively collaborate with colleagues in the United States, Latin America, China, and Europe. I am the author and co-author of several works, including the new book, Invisible Learning, published in April 2011 (University of Barcelona Press), and A New Paradigm of knowledge production in higher education in On the Horizon (2008). My research and action scholarship agenda are focused on the convergence of globalization, knowledge society, and accelerating change in education; and building positive futures for “preK–21″ education.
